I charge $160 initial session fee, $120 per hour-long session and $160 for an hour-and-a-half session. Mental health counseling is often covered by your health insurance plan. I am a preferred provider for many plans including:
“Out of Network” Coverage
If I am an “out of network provider” with your insurance, you may need to meet a deductible and then will be reimbursed a certain percentage of each session fee after that. This amount varies from one insurance carrier to another. If you have any questions about how to obtain reimbursement from your insurance carrier I will be happy to discuss them with you.
Some questions to ask your insurance carrier
are:
What are my mental health benefits?
Do I have “out of network” coverage for outpatient mental health services?
What is the coverage per therapy session? (If a percentage is quoted, make sure you ask if that is a percentage of the therapist’s fee or a percentage of their customary fee).
How many sessions per calendar year does my plan cover?
Is approval required from my primary care physician?
Is there a preauthorization required?
